SPOKEN POETRY Celebrating Poetry and the Sound of Our Own Voices

Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful.” —Rita Dove

Spoken Poetry is the result of a delightful collaboration between poetry lovers and the music department’s Audio Sound Artists class.  Inspired by E.A. Poetry Day, librarian Ms. Shamas-Douglas recorded students reading their own or other artist’s poetry. A short discussion of the poem follows each reading. The recordings were then shared with our music director Mr. Johnson’s audio class for editing and adding music. Please enjoy the poems and readers featured in this collection.
