For nearly 125 years, Erskine Academy has played an important role in the lives of the families we serve. It has received recognition for the excellence of its facility, the quality of its educational programs, and its safe and disciplined environment. The ongoing generosity of individuals and businesses has made this achievement possible and gifts of all sizes are crucial to the institution’s continued success.
Donors to Erskine Academy most often make outright gifts, however pledges can also be accepted. Depending upon the size of the pledge, pledge payments can be scheduled either on a monthly or an annual basis.
Erskine Academy is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has qualified as required by 9 MSRA, Chapter 385, and is registered as an Exempt Charitable Organization. Gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
Cash and Charge
The majority of gifts to Erskine are made in the form of cash via personal checks or credit card charge.

Erskine Academy accepts credit card payments via or either in writing through the mail or online. Pledges may be paid by credit card via automatic monthly installments as long as the monthly installment is $10 or more.

Planned Giving/1883 Society
Membership in the 1883 Society is accorded to those who have named or who intend to name the school in their estate plans through a bequest, deferred gift, or a trust instrument, or who are making gifts as part of their overall financial plan. 1883 Society members will have the knowledge that they have made an important contribution to the future of the youth in our community.
Bequest
Most planned gifts to Erskine will come in the form of a bequest. With a bequest, a donor may be able to accomplish something more significant than one would be able to achieve during his or her lifetime.
Donors can add revocable or irrevocable bequest language benefiting Erskine to a new or existing testamentary document. This is done through an attorney, and a copy of the final language can be shared with Erskine.
Donors can add Erskine as a revocable “percentage” beneficiary on a new or existing retirement plan or insurance policy. This is done by the donor him/herself simply by filling out a form provided by the retirement plan or insurance policy parent company and sending it back to the parent company through the mail. The donor then notifies Erskine of the beneficiary status.
There are no current tax benefits for a donor making a bequest.
Other Planned Giving Vehicles
Other planned giving vehicles include charitable trusts, annuities, and gifts of real estate. A representative of the school can work with you and your financial advisor to plan a gift that is both appropriate to your assets and that meets the spirit of your wishes.
Gifts of Property and Services
Donors who wish to make an in-kind donation of property or services should first contact the Development Office to ensure that the property or service supports the mission of the school.
Volunteering
Another way for individuals to contribute to Erskine Academy is through volunteering their time and talents to Erskine programs. The school relies heavily upon volunteers for implementing many of its daily functions, including serving in a leadership role through the Board of Trustees. Alumni volunteers are needed to assist with Alumni Association activities including the Alumni Council, reunions, Homecoming, and alumni receptions. Alumni also serve as Class Correspondents and Class Agents. To get involved as a volunteer for Erskine, please contact the Development Office.
