About The Myrtle Huff Austin Library
The Myrtle H. Austin Library is proud to carry the name of a much-loved teacher and librarian of Erskine Academy. Mrs. Austin served our Academy for 44 years, from 1929–1983. Today, we carry on her fine tradition of service to our faculty and student population. Facilities include two computer labs that are available for individual student or class work plus additional individual stations and laptops within the main library. Electronic resources are available to students through the Maine State Library Databases in addition to numerous other online resources. Our print collection of approximately 11,000 volumes encompasses a broad range of reference, non-fiction, and fiction works. New volumes are added continuously throughout the year to ensure an active and diverse collection of materials.
The Myrtle Austin Library Media Center is dedicated to being a positive force in the academic and cultural development of the students at Erskine Academy. The information center supports the Academy’s resource-based curriculum and provides diverse opportunities to explore information and broaden intellectual curiosity. Students are exposed to a variety of information sources and have access to the latest technologies allowing them to develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to become life long learners.
