Erskine Academy has a weighted system for determining Rank in Class. There are 6 course levels: AP, Honors, Academic, General and Electives, Special Education, and Summer School. Rank in Class is determined by factoring the level of the class, course credit and the student's earned grade in the course. The Rank in Class is calculated at the end of each trimester. During the student's senior year, the final Rank in Class is figured at the end of the 2 nd trimester which determines the top ten seniors.
The traditional college preparatory program offers a choice of six foreign languages as well as advanced placement courses in Biology, Calculus, English, History, and Physics. Honors level courses are offered in Algebra I and II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, French, German, Latin, Spanish, Lab Biology, Lab Physics, and Lab Chemistry. Often we have seniors who take courses at Colby College, University of Maine, and Kennebec Valley Community College. Several Business and Computer Literacy/Science courses are also offered as well as a number of Technical and Industrial Arts courses. This variety of course offerings allows students to select subjects that best meet their educational and vocational objectives. It is possible for students to combine segments of the different programs of study to prepare for specific career pathways. Erskine Academy’s average class size is 18 students.
